An Update on Development of The Next Chapter

The Next Chapter is a series of programs being launched by the Senior Center to assist those 50 or better answer "what’s next?" This program is being developed with grant support from Wisdom Works: Building Better Communities, a widely acclaimed program of the National Council of Aging (NCOA), in partnership with MetLife Foundation.

A group of volunteers from around the community have been selected as the Wisdom Works Facilitation Team. The Facilitation Team members are passionate individuals who have embraced the task of developing exciting opportunities for those who are facing transition. Team members aim to assist individuals to find their path and help them make a positive difference in their own life, the lives of others, and/or in their community.

Currently, the Team is working to build a program which will fulfill The Next Chapter’s mission, "to provide resources and opportunities to empower adults 50+ to transition into or continue active, fulfilling lives by applying their wisdom and experiences."

The Team is made up of participants of various ages, career backgrounds and family rearing paths, in different phases of the work life cycle, and having a wide array of volunteer experiences and interests. Through a combination of their and wisdom and skill sets, plus YOUR input and assistance, we hope to create many exciting opportunities that will appeal to a variety of people experiencing different types of transitions.
