Senior Center Membership Card System Update
You are invited (and encouraged) to be “In the Know” about our
membership card system.
Please come get your membership card if you do not have yours yet.
Thank you to everyone for checking in with your card.
Added in May 2010 is a new button on the check-in scanner that
allows you to check in without your card.
Remember these benefits to using your new
Senior Center membership card: discounts from our
Community Partners,
the ability to keep you safe and your information secure, and most
importantly, you provide us with the data we need to improve our
programs, services, and facility.
Remember, the card has no personal information. The only ones to
access this are staff and database volunteers. The attendance
information is helpful with program evaluation. Knowing who is in the
building is helpful for security and safety reasons.
Please help us with this goal of having all of the Senior Center
members checking in to programs and activities with their membership
cards. We are actively updating the system, so we welcome your feedback.
Thank you in advance for your help.
Touch screens are located across from the Front Desk and at the Front
Desk . Program attendance can be marked before
your program or after. You can also mark all the activities you plan to
attend that day at one time or individually.
To register your attendance or volunteer hours, just scan your card
(barcode side toward the little scanner) and touch the button on the
screen for the program you are attending. When you touch the button, it
will change to yellow, marking your attendance for that program. If you
have accidentally touched the button, touch it again and the system will
prompt you with whether you are attending that particular program and
you can touch the yes or no button. By the same token, volunteer hours
can be logged by touching the volunteer button, then touching the
category of your volunteer activity and then the activity itself. You
can then enter the hours you volunteered. When you are done, just touch
the “I’m Done” button and you are all set.
The wonderful thing about this system is that it is designed for senior
centers by people who worked in senior centers. The system is flexible
and if you think you have entered something in error, just let the Front
Desk know and we can fix it.
Rooted in our desire to better serve our members, volunteers and
community, the membership card system is the next step in improving our
programs, events and services, expanding the value of membership through
the discount/incentives program, and collecting useful information that
can help us plan for the present, as well as the future.
If you have any questions, please call (434) 974-7756 or stop by the
Front Desk. Thank you for being “In the Know” and helping us get this
system up and running! |
