Caregivers Resource List - is a very comprehensive list of area caregivers that was compiled by the Albemarle County Department of Social Services and Jefferson Area Board for Aging.

Family Caregiver Alliance - is an information resource on long-term care. "Here you'll find specialized information on Alzheimer's disease, stroke, traumatic brain injury, Parkinson's disease, ALS and other disorders and long-term care concerns."

JABA - serves seniors and their families from all walks of life, in any location - at home, in a nursing home, or in an assisted living facility.

Senior Navigator - has various housing options available as you or your loved one age, or how to make living at home easier and more comfortable.

AARP Family Caregiving - provides tips for giving care and an online seminar.

The Arc of the Piedmont - improves the quality of life of adults with, or at risk of, mental retardation and developmental disabilities, and the lives of their families, through service, advocacy and education.

Caregiver.com - a resource from Today's Caregiver magazine that contains many articles, support groups/resources, and links to other relevant websites.

Mental Health Association of Charlottesville / Albemarle - has a referral service for consumers seeking professional mental health providers, and it is provided free of charge. Their program efforts include: 1) maintaining an up-to-date directory of service providers, specialties, payment data and availability; 2) publishing access phone number in appropriate listings; 3) completing intake sheets listing requests as they are taken over the phone; 4) locating providers who are available and referring consumer to two or more providers; and 5) tracking results of referrals.

The Jefferson Area Disability Services Board - is staffed by the Thomas Jefferson Planning District Commission with a volunteer group of citizens, people with disabilities, and service providers. Their purpose is to stimulate public awareness, foster coalitions of committed and educated advocates, and enhance local government interest in disability issues.

Alzheimer’s Association - of Central and Western Virginia, serves Charlottesville, Harrisonburg, Lynchburg, Roanoke and surrounding counties, their mission is to enhance care and support for individuals, their families and caregivers.

Hospice of the Piedmont - programs involve a team-oriented approach to expert medical care, pain management, and emotional and spiritual support expressly tailored to the patient's needs and wishes for for quality, compassionate care at the end-of-life. Support is extended to the patient's loved ones, as well. At the center of their program is the belief that each of us has the right to die pain-free and with dignity, with our families receiving the necessary support to allow us to do so. The focus is on caring, not curing, and, in most cases, care is provided in the patient's home.
