JABA Community Volunteers - provide an opportunity to make a difference in someone else's life while enriching your own.

Senior Center Volunteer Program - to assist a Senior Center member who is looking for a volunteer opportunity, but isn’t sure where to begin, or is looking for a specific type of volunteer experience and wants to get connected to an organization in our community.

Senior Center Computer Lab - seeks people with some computer background to assist in the computer lab and mentor beginners.

Charlottesville Comunity Resources - lists city services and resources.

Senior Navigator - highlights articles on community agencies and programs to help you with everything from exercising your mind and body to finding volunteer opportunities.

Alzheimer’s Association, Central and Western Virginia Chapter - need volunteers of all skill levels to work at special events such as the Memory Walk. Volunteers are also needed to perform light office jobs, data entry, and phone tasks.

Charlottesville/Albemarle SPCA - is always looking for responsible, caring volunteers to help animals find a good home. Volunteers needed for tasks from dog walking to data entry and even for foster care of needy animals.

FOCUS Women's Resource Center - is a United Way agency dedicated to the needs of women and their families, FOCUS administers a number of programs for which they need volunteers, including programs designed to provide career and employment resources, and affordable counseling.

Jefferson-Madison Regional Library - would like help to promote the love of reading and lifelong learning at a local library. See the website for information on how to volunteer and for a list of volunteer opportunities in surrounding counties.

Literary Volunteers in Charlottesville/Albemarle - an independent, nonprofit organization offering free, confidential, basic literacy instruction to adults. Volunteer to help an adult learn to speak and read English.

United Way-Thomas Jefferson Area - has a Volunteer Center that serves Charlottesville and surrounding counties. You can search their online database to "Find an Opportunity" using a number of different criteria in order to serve the community in ways best suited to your interests and abilities.

VABook! - The Virginia Festival of the Book is an annual program produced by the Virginia Foundation for the Humanities (VFH) in cooperation with community organizations. VABook! is organized and largely run by volunteer committees who generously contribute their time and energy to this annual celebration of books and reading.

Adopt-a-Stream Program - for those interested in maintaining the beauty of local waterways. Individual and group volunteers needed to assist environmental cleanup through the Adopt-a-Stream program.

CROP WALK -is the annual 10K CROP walk that raises money for hunger and disaster relief. Participants include walkers of all ages and sponsors who help them raise money for this cause.

Heart Walk Sponsored by the American Heart Association, the annual Heart Walk raises money to help in the fight against the ravages of heart disease and stroke. Check out the Central Virginia Chapter for scheduled events.
