COMPUTER TIPS & TRICKS

What Do You Have?

To find out what is in your PC, right click on My Computer.  Then when the menu comes up, click on Properties.  On the general screen that comes up, you will see what operating system you have, the kind of processor (CPU - Central Processing Unit) you have and it's speed.  The amount of RAM is also shown.

Window Operating System Updates

Security flaws are constantly being found in the Windows operating systems.  It is best to keep your system up to date.  For any Windows version go to www.microsoft.com and click on Windows Update under Product Resources.   For the XP system, you can schedule automatic updates.  This is a good thing to do, in addition to keeping your anti-virus definitions up to date.  Do the things identified in the paragraph above.  Then click on the Automatic Updates tab.  Check the box, and set a time to do an update each day -- when your computer is generally on and connected to the Internet.
