Drama Club / Encore Players
This club is for those who love
all aspects of the theater. This exciting and diverse
group meets weekly on Tuesdays from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. in Room B. The group
reads and discusses monologues and one-act plays by famous playwrights as
well as original works by members. We stage a free-admission Spring Show in May and a
Fall Show in October at the Senior Center, and sometimes “take the show
on the road” to perform for community groups. Join other theater
enthusiasts to explore the compelling experience of
drama.
The Encore Players is turning to the Senior Center talent pool
for scripts for future dramatic presentations. The popular drama
group plans to present, at its spring presentation, a program of plays
written by Center members. In announcing the plans, Jean Newland said that
the Encore Players feel that their Spring presentation will be more
enjoyable if it projects local writing talent. “We know that there are
many talented writers among us and we want to find them so we can feature
their work for the enjoyment of other Senior Center members,” she said.
Requirements for scripts to be presented are that they must be original
and written by Senior Center members, must be short, five to six minutes,
must require only basics props and, above all, must be humorous. Any
member wishing to have a script considered should leave it in the drama
folder on the desk in lobby. For additional information: Jean Newland –
