International Folk Dancing

The Folk Dancing Festival on Gotland

Wednesdays, 6:30-8:30 p.m.

Get exercise while having fun and relaxing! Learn line, circle, sets and couple dances from around the world with authentic world music. We have three experienced teachers: Susan Oberman, Sue Chase and Susan Jones. No dancing experience required – participants will be guided through dances and participants learn at own pace. The first half of each session features teaching and review and the rest of the evening is dedicated to dancing to requests with occasional reviews. FREE for members and guests; $4 for guests eligible for Senior Center membership (age 50+). For more info, call Elias Plaza-Meyer at (434)327-8034 or Susan Oberman at (434)244-0374.

Visit the Charlottesville International Folk Dance website.

Join us Wednesday evenings in Room B for two hours of instruction and practice of folk dances. No prior experience necessary. Everyone is welcome to come out and experience the fun and great exercise…or to come to watch.

This cultural activity shares customs and traditions of nations throughout the world combined with physical activity and enjoyment gained while learning the story of the dance. International Dancing consists of folk dances from around the world. Authentic village folk dances from many countries are taught to traditional music. People learn circle, line and partner (plus trio) dances, done at beginner, intermediate and advanced levels.
