Program Participation
At Senior Center, Inc., we place a very high value on membership and
expect that our members can count on it to provide valuable benefits.
Annual membership is an important part of the funding picture that allows
Senior Center Inc. to live up to our commitment to involve, enrich, and
empower seniors in our community. Membership fees and program
participation fees help cover direct program costs and costs for such
essentials as utilities and facilities upkeep. Those who join and those
who pay by program enable the Center to offer the wide array of programs,
the majority of which are offered without charge to members, to meet needs
and interests of community members aged 50 and better.
For guests, there will sometimes be a small fee to attend
events. For the fiscal year starting April 2010 to March 2011, the
fee will remain at $4.00. For events where the Senior Center members
pay a fee, guests may be asked to pay more than $4.00. For our 50th
Anniversary Year that ends December 31, 2010, we are offering a
reduction in our annual dues for previous members who rejoin (after a
6-month lapse). You can gain full membership for a year for $50.
The Senior Center has instituted a membership card system. This
includes a bar code on each members' card. When participants
cooperate by using the member card to record their attendance,
they provide important information that can assist the Center in applying
for grants, maintaining current programs, and developing new programs.
Attendance numbers are one way to show our importance in the community and
learn level of interest in the various programs.
Members whose membership has lapsed are invited to renew their
membership or to pay a guest fee to continue to participate in the
program. Guests are invited to participate in any program that is
open to guests by paying the fee. NOTE: Guests visiting a family
member at a program do participate at the member rate. The fee
differential applies to guests who are utilizing our services and programs
repeatedly.
Members are presented with a great opportunity to encourage guests
to consider the benefits of joining the Senior Center, Inc.!
Providing a great program and developing rapport with all participants can
assist in increasing membership as well as improving member satisfaction.
Participants of multiple programs or even one program over time, save
money through membership and also can enjoy "member only" activities and
take full advantage of all the services we offer – including the
scholarship program, with donated funds available to cover membership fees
and program fees for those requesting assistance. Membership packets are
available at the Front Desk. Heidi Shaner, Membership Coordinator, is
available to provide more information on membership and the scholarship
program. Heidi can be reached by
or at 974-7756. |
