The Silvertones
 

The name Silvertones was taken from the Sears & Roebuck’s line of radios & record players in the 1930s and 40s.  All members of the group, including Bud Eismann, tenor sax; Guitarist/vocalist Howie Campbell, & Bassist Joe Tucker, have strong musical backgrounds – several as part of professional bands.  The average of the group is 75.  Will Abbey, the piano man in the group has been playing piano since he was barely old enough to reach the keys, & has played with many groups from New England to the Philippines.  Most of the music is improvised, built around Your Hit Parade numbers from across a century of “pop music.”  New musicians are welcome, but prefer those who are familiar with improvisation.  We jam on Fridays from 12:30 to 2 p.m.  Call Will Abbey at 962-0387 for more information.
