A Child's "Dear God"
Prayer
Where do you store all the prayers that I say,
My bedtime ones and those from the day?
Do they fly up fast, or arrive rather slow?
I really would like to know where they go.
And how can you answer so many requests?
Do mine all mix with some of the rest?
Is that why so many are never fulfilled?
(1 know that the answer is, just what "YOU willed,")
Do sad ones look blue and are happy ones pink?
Must I say them out loud or can I just think?
Do only the kids and the older folks pray?
'cause folks in between seem so rushed every day.
Does my dog, Max, ever send you a prayer
To help him uncover a big bone somewhere?
Do messenger angels deliver each thought,
My own little prayer, or the prayers I've been taught?
I don't mean to bug You, dear God, but it seems
These questions pop up, sometimes in my dreams.
Prayers are confusing, but one thing I'm sure of,
You know all the answers....so, thanks for your love.
