Hello Ant

By Jane Grau

Hello Ant. You seem lost.
Has your sticky trail been erased by frost?

You scurry here and hurry there;
You sense the winter chill now in the air.

Before the coming blanket of snow
It’s imperative to find your way below

Where sustenance and warmth await.
Too much delay could seal your fate.

At last, you greet a friend up ahead.
How I wish I knew what’s being said.

An opening appears, ending your plight,
Together you flee to safety just out of sight.

How sad most humans deem you just a pest.
To me, you are life, so I say, God Bless.
