Prayer for Easter

Closer, my Lord, by Thee, that's where I want to be,
Near by your heart, under your wing.
Then, when the day arrives that I must say goodbyes,
Lift me, oh Lord, with your angels to sing.

Repeating the story, with praise to your glory,
When Jesus, Redeemer, -though all seemed so dim -
Brought heaven and life, peace with no strife,
To all who believed sin was conquered by Him.

Today it's the same as when Jesus first came -
The world is at war; temptations abound.
Still eternity waits, at heaven's gates;
The way and the truth in Jesus is found.
