MY SECRET

by
Marilyn Fabricatore

You think you know me, one who smiles,

A mother, teacher, social friend

Who listens gently to your talk

And always has a hand to lend.

But deep within there dwells a part

That’s nourished not by food at all.

‘Tis sights and sounds and fantasies

That grip my soul, for when they call.

The mind’s – eye sees beyond the sky,

Kaleidoscopic senses dance;

The heart sings songs as yet not born;

The total being is enhanced.

So if I seem quite deep in thought

The inner me has flown away

To nourish life’s deep richest source

Recharging me for earthly stay.
